Lance Winslow started the Deck Wash Guys in 1999 after one
of his successful franchisees in the
Denver Colorado Market was hired by
an HOA (Home Owners Association) near Parker, CO to
power wash the fence
line surrounding the entire housing tract. The HOA also gave them the entire
exclusive for deck cleaning services, along with a strong referral.
This allowed them the credibility
that Mr. Winslow's franchisee needed to
start contacting all the high-end communities in the area for
possible
services. Eventually they had contracts to treat entire log homes, decks,
and more fences.
Seeing a massive amount of business and opportunity for his
entire WashGuy Franchise System, Lance
Winslow set up a training program,
created manuals and redesigned the UFOC Uniform Franchise
Offering Circular (the
older equivalent of the FDD). This allowed the Deck Wash Guys to sell Franchises
as a stand alone franchised business or as another module to the original
WashGuys System franchise.
Within no time the WashGuys Team of Franchisees
was washing, cleaning, treating and coating Decks
in many states and
developing a huge customer base to compliment the other residential services
such
as the Concrete Wash Guys,
Detail Guys and
Car Wash Guys. The Deck Wash Guys was
a winner.

Eventually, Lance Winslow sold the company to a much larger
firm in 2001, just prior to 911. Lance
later felt bad that he sold the
company and kicked himself for it, but Mr. Winslow's timing turned out
impeccable in hindsight, as the US economy took a huge hit and went into
recession within a few months
after the sale. The purchasing company had
their own established brand name, so this website now stands
as a historical
record, and the franchisees still out there offering Deck Cleaning Services do
often receive
referrals and consultation from Mr. Winslow. Lance says he is
glad to be of assistance helping the team he
built up over time. If you are
interested in starting a Deck Cleaning Company, perhaps you might shoot him
an email; Lance

and he can point you in the right direction to get started.
You see, it is Lance Winslow's contention that you must keep
your deck looking good and protected. It's
amazing the amount of neglect
that wood takes around the home, from gazebos to decks and from fence
lines
to trim on the home itself. Most wood coatings last less than 3-4 years in harsh
climates and even the
more high-tech materials used in composite decks need
to be pressure washed on a routine basis. Lance
believes that a Deck Cleaning
business is a nice small business for someone that wishes to be self-employed
and Mr. Winslow also understands that since Deck Cleaning in many regions of the
country can be seasonal,
so Lance recommends combining it with other much
needed pressure washing services. Something to think on.
